Nigel Vile was born in Bristol. He now lives in Bradford-on-Avon, near Bath and teaches Economics at King Edward's school in Bath. Field-study trips with his pupils and rambles with his own children have given him an intimate knowledge of the area and a clear appreciation of how to get the utmost enjoyment out of family walking.
